Heritage and family fun sit side by side in Kent Life’s beautiful and historical 28 acre grounds, which appeal to history buffs, nostalgia seekers and children of all ages and are tucked away on the outskirts of Maidstone just off junction six of the M20.
Home to Britain’s last working coal-fired Oast House and a range of period-dressed historic buildings - saved from destruction from around the region and perfectly rebuilt piece-by-piece on site - Kent Life is the place to step back in time and discover the vibrant history of the people who lived and worked in the Garden of England over the past 150 years.
It is also one of the few places left in Britain where hops are grown, harvested, dried and packed in the magnificent Oast House by hand, using only time honoured, traditional techniques, a process that is celebrated every September at the popular Hops ‘n’ Harvest Festival.
A real working farm, Kent Life showcases and breeds traditional farm animals including sheep, cows, pigs, horses, alpacas, rabbits, goats, ducks and chickens and the hands-on Cuddle Corner is always popular with visitors.
Farmhouse gardens, apple orchards, paddocks, and a nature trail also occupy this hidden gem. New for 2013, guided tours are available to help uncover the secrets and stories of the site.
Family fun comes in a vast array of options including an outdoor adventure play area, an indoor play barn, donkey rides, pottery studio, junior electric quad bikes, tractor rides, dressing up, and much more!
Group visits can enjoy workshops, demonstrations, even a boat trip, and can benefit from a range of catering options from cream teas through to 2 course lunches.
Events and activities run all year round especially during holidays and weekends.
